Our Services in Rutherfordton, North Carolina from BPS Southeast

Services

We offer multiple services to our customers in Western North Carolina. Customers can purchase the flooring or tile from our store and have their own contractor install it for them, or we can offer professionals to help with the installation. Our professionals are contractors that work with our store to offer you the best finished installation.

When installing flooring, it is important that the sub floor is prepared properly for the new flooring as well to insure that the installation will hold up over time. Sometimes we will have to make adjustments to the sub floor to make them flat for hard surfaces or apply a moisture barrier if it is over concrete to protect your flooring from moisture vapor. Taking extra steps to make sure your flooring performs properly is important to us.

Unfortunately, some sub floor issues we don't find until we remove older flooring when we are updating flooring in a home. In those cases, we will let you know what will need to be done and there may have to be an extra cost to the project. It could be that previous installers did not install a moisture barrier over a concrete floor or when you are updating to a hard surface, there may need to be some level compound applied to help even out uneven places in the sub floor.

Carpet Installation

Installations include residential and commercial carpets. Residential carpets will include all varieties of styles, construction, and patterns. The prices vary on the complexity of the installations and were the carpet is being installed.

Luxury Vinyl & Laminate Installation

The installation of luxury vinyl & laminate includes full spread glue down products as well as click together products. When installing hard surfaces such as vinyl and laminate, there will usually be some extra cost on floor preparation. The products will not perform properly if the floor is not flat and free from low & high places. It can cause damage to the locking system and separation of planks may happen over time.

Hardwood Installation

Installation cost will vary on the type of installation and the size of the material being installed. Wood flooring can come in three different types of installation styles. It can be stapled or nailed if the planks are less than 5" in width. Some collections can also be floated or clicked together. These will be installed sometimes with an extra underlayment or it may come with an underlayment attached. The other installation type is a full spread glue down.

This is for any product that is greater than 5" and does not interlock. Some of the sizes available exceed 9" in width. Those are much more difficult to install and will cost more. We encourage those wanting wood flooring that is extra wide to install either before trim is installer in doorways and baseboard, or to remove it and upgrade after the installation.

Tile Installation

There are numerous tile installers that we work with in the area. When doing tile, we will offer you some installers to work with. They will come to your home to help you see what your options are and what it may cost. We will offer you all the tile and setting materials and metal trims. When dealing with tile, be aware when remodeling that you may get into situations that will add to your cost quickly. Tile is used in wet areas, so when removing old tile or materials you may find water damage that will have to be repaired before moving forward.

It is important to use high quality setting materials and waterproofing products so that your tile work last you for years. When choosing your tile, be aware many times that the cost of the tile does not determine the cost of the installation.

The installation is a fixed cost, but the quality of the tile is not. Take your time and find the right tile that works for you. If you can't find a tile in our showroom that you like, please allow us to work with some of our other resources for tile. We can't carry everything, so we have partnered with other tile showrooms to allow you to have more options if you are willing to go look at them.

Hardwood Flooring Cleaning

Keeping your hardwood floors looking good over the years can be difficult. We offer wood floor cleaning for those who just can't seem to get the floors clean from all the traffic. Some cleaners used at home don't always get up the heavy soiling from everyday activities such as cooking and bring dirt in from outside. Our wood floor scrubber helps get the dirt off and bring the new look back to your floor. If you have used polishes or products that leave a film on your floor, we can help remove that as well.

Sub Floor Leveling

It can be difficult to get estimates for this. Our installers will work on wood and concrete sub floors to prepare them for hard surface installations. All hard surface products have a minimum distance of slope that they will handle. If it is too much and the floor is not level, the manufacturer will void the warranty on the flooring if there is a failure and it gets inspected and that is the issue pointed out. It is the responsibility of the homeowner and installer to make sure the floor is ready for installation. If the homeowner does not want the floor to be checked and leveled, any issues that happen after time will be their responsibility.

If we are allowed to work on the sub floors to level the floors, we will take care of any issues that may come up later. We will provide estimates for leveling the floor, but it will be an open estimate. That means that it may be less or more depending on how much work we have to do to make the floor flat for the installation.

Moisture Barrier Applications

When installing flooring over a concrete sub floor, we encourage the customer to apply a moisture barrier. Concrete may feel like a rock hard surface, but it is porous and moisture can still come through it depending on what is going on outside or under the floor. Hard surface warranties ask for the concrete to be checked for moisture content before installation. We offer those test as well, but always encourage our customers to move forward with the barrier no matter what.

Moisture can change over time under a floor. The grade of a building, clogged gutters, and other issues can cause water to come under a home. Moisture can come through at a very slow pace as vapor. Over time it will cause flooring to either have construction problems, adhesion problems, or cause mold.

Centricity Insurance

If you install your flooring with us and we provide the installation, we can offer you protection for the first five years of the installation. Whether it is a partially damaged area or a full replacement, Centricity insurance covers any flooring installation with only a one time fee. With only 10% of the full invoice to pay for the insurance, you can get peace of mind for the first five years. Great for new construction or new flooring before you move into a new home.
